Johann Kotzé, CEO of SAPPO, was a guest on PlaasTV on 20 August. He discussed the impact of the unrest in KZN on the pig industry in the province and the emotional effects it had on farmers. There were also valuable lessons to be learnt from the unrest. There was excellent cooperation by all involved and the unrest proved that pig producers could quickly make a mind shift. The unrest also showed the risks of producers’ current business models and that they must look at ways to change these.
